Galleys can attack and defend like other units, but are rather weak and slow (especially when compared to Cruisers and Battleships). Upgrading Slingers to Pítati Archers costs 60 gold. Galleys/Viking Longships cost 270 gold to upgrade into Caravels. As could be expected, its combat capabilities are quite limited, but it is relatively cheap to produce and can still be used to explore and conquer coastal cities, or harass the enemy by pillaging coastal improvements. ![]() The Galley is the first naval unit available in the game. Indeed, naval units (surface ships at least, not subs–except for nuclear subs with missiles in them) can bombard land units if they’re in range, all the way from the trireme onwards. ![]()
